Sharon and Wayne Gill kept meeting amazing talents: a fighter, a musician, a business founder, a coach — someone with a real record of achievement and a real reason to be in the United States. The talent was never the problem. The problem was that an O-1 or P-1 petition needs a U.S. employer or agent willing to be the petitioner of record, and most won't take that on for someone they haven't met.

So the paperwork stalled. Contracts went unsigned, seasons were missed, and the people best positioned to contribute here waited for a sponsor who never appeared.
